November 2021 SRTT Monthly Challenge - Thanks and Planks

November Challenge - Thanks and Planks

Welcome to the November SRTT Planks and Thanks Challenge. Also known as Planksgiving. This challenge is open to everyone and easy to do just about anywhere. We all know how important it is to have a strong core...especially with running! Each day has a designated time to hold a plank with a goal to increase to 2 full minutes by the end of the month. There will be 4 rest days listed as gratitude where we’ll give thanks. These gratitude posts will be themed and shared on the day prior.
If you don’t want to plank, feel free to post your November mileage or other goals and share those as well.
For the planks - you are welcome to mix up with high plank, forearm plank, weighted planks, side plank or any variation you choose. Just be sure to hold the plank for the full-time listed!
Don’t forget to share about your plank each day in the challenge event! A tip for those that want to share their photos - if you don’t have anyone to take it - prop your phone up and set the timer.

October 2021 Monthly Challenge

Welcome to the October Challenge Event!! For new members, every month we host a challenge to help keep us motivated to reach our goals. Over the past several years, many ladies have loved our October scavenger hunt, so we are bringing it back again in 2021.

Scavenger Hunt Rules
All photographs should be taken during a run/walk/other exercise to count.
You can check off a maximum of TWO items each day (during a workout), and you can only complete a scavenger hunt item one time.

When you find an item on the list, take a picture and post to the Facebook event page, specifying which scavenger hunt item(s) you are marking off.
Only photographs taken October 1-31st are eligible.
Complete the activities at your own risk.

If you choose to run with a friend or group, please remember All SRTT chapter leaders and members are expected to be truthful and responsible about their own physical health and their potential exposure to COVID-19 from family members and co-workers. If you do not feel well or if someone in your home is not feeling well, you must stay home and protect your fellow SRTT members.

Running Rules
It’s pretty simple, set a monthly mileage goal and report to us regularly on how it is going. Please track your own mileage and update miles in your posts on the challenge page.
Keep it Simple Option – If you are looking for a low-key month, and want to participate without tracking mileage and/or scavenger hunt items, that is fine. It is completely acceptable to post fun run/walk/exercise photos with or without scavenger hunt items included.
Make the challenge work for YOU! The most important thing is to have fun and run/walk/bike with joy!

September 2021 - Time for a Team Monthly Challenge!

We have 9 teams of 10 ladies ready to meet the challenge.

Sore to the Finish
2Hot2Stop
Runage a Trois
May the 4's Be with You
The Five Hive
We Do it for a 6 Pack
7 Deadly Shins
Crazy 8's
HOT Mess

Details on how ladies signed up for the challenge (Posted in our private page in August).

LADIES - it is TIME! The September 2021 monthly challenge is a TEAM CHALLENGE.
ALL PACES/ALL FITNESS LEVELS welcomed!
Are you ready for a challenge?
Challenge runs from September 1- September 30th, 2021.
To participate in this challenge, you must complete the form in the link below by August 23rd at midnight.
Those that fill out this form will have their names placed into a pot. You must fill out EVERY field on the form to be placed on a team. Chapter Co-Leaders (Stephanie and Allison Hertel Reid) will randomly draw your name and place you with a team. We will announce teams by August 26th in our Facebook group.
Teams will be assigned at random. Each team will choose a “team cheerleader” who will be responsible for cheering the team on and help keep an estimate of team mileage for the month. The main goal of the challenge is simple-- get out and walk/run/hike/bike or swim! Activities should be intentional and miles must be from an activity - you CANNOT count daily step totals. (If you have questions about this, contact Stephanie or Allison before filling out this form.) The team that has the most miles WINS the challenge. We will come back together after the challenge (Location/date TBD) to award fun prizes.
Activity conversion ratios:
Run/walk/hike: 1 mile=1mile=1mile
Elliptical:Run is 1mile =1 mile
Bike/Spin:Run is 3 miles=1 mile
Swim:Run is 1 mile = 3 miles
(If you run/walk/hike/elliptical for 5 miles, you count 5 miles total. If you bike or spin 15 miles, you get to count 5 miles total. If you swim 1 mile, you get to count that as 3 miles.)
Note: Running as a team is not required. If you cannot run as a group, that is okay, just make sure you are keeping track of your miles for the month. If local COVID guidelines change between now and the end of September, we ask that everyone pivot accordingly for safety reasons.

August SRTT Photo-A-Day Challenge

Welcome to the Louisville SRTT August Monthly Challenge. For August, we will be doing a Photo-A-Day challenge because everyone seems to enjoy being told what to do and wear ðŸ˜‚.
It’s pretty simple, on Saturday of each week, we will post the 7 days of photos for the upcoming week. Just snap a photo of whatever is listed for that day and share it in the group.
You can also share your other mileage, running, walking, biking, hiking, cross-training, etc goals and photos related to those as well!

BOOM July Monthly Challenge

 BOOM July Monthly Challenge

Welcome to the July SRTT BOOM Challenge. Strength and cross-training are important for not only day-to-day life but also running! You can find the event in our private Facebook group (must be a member to access).  You can also access the sheet via google here.
These workouts are designed for ANYONE to do at home even if you don’t have dumbbells….you just have might to get creative. You’ll get a full-body workout with the upper body, core, and lower body. We also mix it up and keep the reps lower because if you want to make progress in the strength department...the goal isn’t a high number of reps. And we also don’t want you so sore that you can’t get your walk/run/bike in either!
A few helpful tips for the challenge:
  • BW = Bodyweight
  • If you can’t do pushups on your toes (like me) - go to an elevated surface
  • Fwd = Forward, Rvs = Reverse
  • No weights or dumbbells? No problem… use a backpack filled with your desired weight, laundry detergent, books, water bottles, and for those moms...maybe even a kiddo...I’m sure they’d love it ðŸ˜ƒ
At the end of each week, I’ll post some videos and information for the next week such as modifiers and total counts.
Don’t forget to share your July goals with us as well and any mileage goals you have in addition to getting some strength/cross-training in!

June Monthly Challenge: The Color Run Challenge!

Join us for the June Color Run Challenge

Welcome to the MRTT/SRTT June Color Run Challenge!
For new members, every month we host a challenge to help keep us motivated to reach our goals. We are a very diverse group, many ladies are preparing for virtual/fall races and starting to increase mileage each week, other ladies are beginning their running journey. This challenge is adaptable for everyone, regardless of where you are in your running journey. This challenge is all about the joy of running, being active and adding a little color to brighten our days.
Who’s ready to add some color to their day? And just for Allison and a few others, I mixed some black in there ðŸ™‚
The rules are simple:
> Run or workout wearing the assigned color of the day. It can be any variation of the color listed
> Wear the color head to toe or just a touch of the color.
> Take a selfie/shoefie showing off the color of the day
> Post your picture to the event page
Please brighten up the page and post your activity (no matter what it is).
As always, feel free to share your goals for the month and post updates frequently. Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable for YOU. Some ladies make goals for mileage, steps, number of active minutes, number of workouts per week, hydration, nutrition, etc. If you are struggling to lace up and get out the door, please reach out. If you achieve a goal or set a new PR, please share. This event is all about being there for each other.

February "Love Yourself" Monthly Challenge

Welcome to the FEBRUARY Love Yourself Challenge! For new members, every month we host a challenge to help keep us motivated to reach our goals. We are a very diverse group, many ladies are training for KDF or other spring/virtual races, other ladies are beginning their running journey and some aren't running much right now or focusing on strength. With Covid, many people are finding it harder to make time for themselves especially with kids at home, NTI, crazy work schedules, not leaving the house much, etc. This challenge will be focused on getting back to self love and self-care so it's adaptable for everyone, regardless of where you are in your running journey.
Because building habits is important, each day we'll have a different self-love focus that will repeat each week throughout the month of February. If you have a specific running/mileage goal, we want to know about those as well, so please share here in the monthly challenge.
Below you will find a breakdown of each day...and remember these will repeat each week:"
Mile Monday or Meal Monday: Make time for 1 mile every Monday. This can be a 1 mile walk, run, on the treadmill, stair stepper, elliptical or any version of cardio in which a mile can be calculated. OR Share a healthy nourishing meal that you are using to fuel your body.
Tuesday Tunes: Listen to some tunes that make you feel good. You can also share your favorite tunes that you love to listen to while running/working out.
Wellness Wednesday: Take time for your wellness - whatever that means for you. Some ideas are running, reading a personal development book, 3 things you are grateful for, self-love affirmations, listen to a podcast, listen or watching something funny to laugh, etc.
Thirsty Thursday: We all know how important hydration is for our health and especially running so today's goal is to drink ALL the water. Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water.
Flex Friday: Stretch, yoga, mobility for flexibility or do a strength workout.
Share Saturday: Share something positive with the group. It could be something you LOVE, are grateful for, an affirmation, favorite book, etc.
Silent Sunday: Meditate, read a book or digital detox and spend time away from screens!

January 2021 Monthly Challenge

Welcome to 2021 and the January Monthly Challenge!

Welcome to the MRTT/SRTT April Challenge. It's BINGO time! This challenge will run from January 1- January 31st. You should aim to complete each item listed on the BINGO board in a "cover all" fashion. Post your progress on the BINGO board weekly, or more often if you would like. Make sure when you post, you try to share a fun photo(s) of your activities to motivate others.
You can do more than one square per day, but getting them completed faster does not get you a better chance for the monthly prize.
At the end of the month, if you have completed ALL of the squares on your card, you need to yell BINGO and post a comment on the designated post by Admin. Your name will be put in the pot for a prize drawing!
Let's get ready to play BINGO!
As always, we encourage you to share your monthly mileage/activity goals and post progress frequently. You do not have to play BINGO to participate in the accountability aspect of the event.
