Top 10 She Runs This Town Myths

Top 10 She Runs This Town (SRTT) Myths - BUSTED!

It has come to our attention that there are a few myths about She Runs This Town. In this blog, we've compiled a list of the top ten myths we hear from new members below and help bust a few of them.

1. This group is just for moms.

Our running club is for anyone that identifies as a woman and wants a safe space to run, period. If you are not okay with this, we are not the club for you.

2. Only "fast" runners can join.

We welcome members of all paces. There is no pace minimum or maximum. We host "no-drop" monthly runs to support runners across the pace spectrum.

3. Group runs are mandatory.

False. We do have group runs and people are welcome to join as they can. But we respect those that want virtual support and do not run with others. Members find much inspiration and motivation in our Facebook group without joining a group run in person.

4. There is a cost to join.

We are a FREE group. You do have to go through a screening process to join our private Facebook group, but there is no cost.

5. You have to be a runner already to join.

We accept members wherever they are in the running journey. Whether running your 20th marathon or never running a mile, you are always welcome here.

6. You must look like a runner to join.

We welcome all body shapes, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc. We strongly believe there is no one way to "look" like a runner.

7. There is drama.

Nope. We have a no-drama policy; if people can not be respectful and follow the rules, they may be asked to leave the group.

8. You have to live in Louisville to join.

Our group has members from aound Kentucky and some other states! Other SRTT chapter members will often come looking to us for group runs when they are visiting Louisville, and we are happy to have them join.

9. We only run.

We do more than run. We have play dates for our kids, book clubs, ladies' night out, and charity events. We volunteer at races too!

10. It's nothing special; just a running group.

No way. It's more than just lacing up and putting one foot in front of the other. It can be a way for you to meet some fantastic friends, find inspiration and possibly change your life!

Those are the top 10 myths we've heard. Can you think of others? Comment or message below, and we will help bust those myths.

 April SRTT Mural Challenge

Welcome to the April SRTT Mural Challenge. This month, we’ll be running, walking, or biking this town to check out all the amazing murals the city has to offer.
The challenge is to visit as many murals as possible. Share photos of murals during your walk/run/bike. Drive-bys do not count - you must share your route with a photo of the mural (Garmin, Strava, Apple Watch, Map My Run, or other trackers).
Not sure where the various murals are at? We've created a Google Sheet with a list of several murals you can check off the list. (NOTE: the link will create your own copy). There is also a really great app you can download called Louisville Visual Art (LVA) that lists the murals in Louisville and Southern Indiana. It lists the mural, a photo of it, and the address. The ones on the Google sheet came from the app. There were SO many to choose from and several close to each other. You do not have to do only the ones in the checklist but can add your own as well!
Post your photo with the mural and route on the event page whenever you visit one of the murals and check it off the list. Join the event page in our private group here.

Sign up now for our February Team Challenge: The Ville SRTT Winter Olympics

The Ville SRTT Winter Olympics TEAM CHALLENGE 2022

Welcome to the Winter Olympics, SRTT Louisville Style!
ALL PACES/ALL FITNESS LEVELS welcomed!
Are you ready for a challenge? "Compete" in The Ville SRTT Winter Olympics with a team from your own neck of the Ville! This month we will have a fun challenge, including weekly themed pop-up challenges.
Challenge runs from February 1 - February 28th, 2022.
To participate in this challenge, you must complete this form in our private group by January 20th at 11:59 pm ET.
Those that fill out this form will have their names placed into a pot. You must fill out EVERY field to be placed on a team. Chapter Leaders will randomly draw your name and place you with a team or "delegate" in your neighborhood/neighborhood close to you. We will announce delegates by January 26th in our Facebook group.
Members will be assigned to delegates at random but we are going to do our best to keep members in a delegate that is close to their identified neighborhood. Each team will choose a “coach" who will be responsible for cheering the team on and help keep an estimate of team mileage for the month. The main goal of the challenge is simple-- get out and walk/run/hike/bike or swim! Activities/miles must be from an intentional activity - you CANNOT count daily step totals. (If you have questions about this, contact Stephanie or Allison before filling out this form.) The team that has the most miles WINS the challenge. We will come back together after the challenge (March Date/Time TBD) to award fun prizes.
Activity conversion ratios:
Run/walk/hike: 1 mile=1mile=1mile
Elliptical: Run is 1mile =1 mile
Bike/Spin:Run is 3 miles=1 mile
Swim:Run is 1 mile = 3 miles
(If you run/walk/hike/elliptical for 5 miles, you count 5 miles total. If you bike or spin 15 miles, you get to count 5 miles total. If you swim 1 mile, you get to count that as 3 miles.)
Note: Running as a team is not required. If you cannot run as a group, that is okay, just make sure you are keeping track of your miles for the month. If local COVID guidelines change between now and the end of February we ask that everyone pivot accordingly for safety reasons.

Ready to sign up? See our private Facebook page for signup form.
